Weddings in Medjugorje

Ceremony Order

1) The couple brings a cross to the altar.
2) The priest blesses that cross.
3) During the vows, the bride puts her right hand on that cross, then the groom puts his hand on top.
4) The priest takes his stole and puts it on the couple’s hands. At that point, they promise to be faithful to the Church and each other.
5) The priest will say that they have found their cross. They will love this cross, carry it, and cherish it always because that is true love.
6) The couple then kisses the cross.
7) At the end of the ceremony, that cross is hung in their home to make a prayer room. They can worship Jesus, ask for His help, and pray every night as a family.
The couple will be able to teach their children to embrace the cross knowing that it gives life and Divine Life.  The children will grow up feeling Jesus’ protection. This comfort will be deeply rooted in them.  The family will be in Jesus’ loving arms knowing that God loves them.
